Gillette Field Trip
We had a terrific day visiting the Hall of Fame and Museum, lunch at Red Robin and doing some STEM activities with Gillette staff. Our kids were polite and respectful. What a great day!

- Happy New Year!
Please enjoy some photos of Snow Bowl 2019. A hearty thank you to our brave volunteers and room parent Mrs. Lamond!
December Acts of Kindness
As a class we are doing a random act of kindness each day. We have made (and delivered!) holiday bookmarks for our second grade friends, written kind sticky notes for our former teachers, and spent a few extra minutes helping out the wonderful cafeteria staff. I have noticed that the smiles our acts bring are only outdone by the ones on our own faces:)
I will keep updating the pictures in this feed so you can enjoy at home and have your student share the experience!

Happy Halloween!
A big thank you to Mrs. Lamond for helping to organize our afternoon of hands-on Halloween Science, and thank you all for funding our supplies. We explored polymers, states of matter and more. Enjoy the photos!

Chalk Talk
We kicked off our science unit with a chalk talk on Renewable and Nonrenewable Energy. Ask your fourth grader how a chalk talk works!
We have had our first indoor recesses this week. The entire fourth grade enjoyed games, building legos, and art projects. Can we spot Mr. Wilson challenging some classmates to Connect Four?
Thank you to Mr. Wilson for the magic show. We earned 500 class star cards and it was a super duper reward to be stumped by a master!
Thank You to the TriTown Rotary!
Fourth graders were the lucky recipients of personal dictionaries this week. Thank you to our friends from the Rotary Club who delivered them in person and shared their important message about literacy. Please visit their website to learn more about this organization by clicking here.

The bubbles weren’t just for fun...we graphed and analyzed the data for minimum, maximum, range and mode. The pictures are priceless, enjoy!
A little extra recess and popsicles to celebrate our first week,!
What a great first day! Please enjoy some photos of our team building activity.
We will start filling this up with friends from the 2019-2020 school year right away. Scroll down to enjoy photos of classes in the past!
Fenway Park 2019
A huge thank you to Brian Heckathorn for the opportunity to learn about the prosthetic device his company made for the famous dolphin Winter. He donated several copies of the book and a stuffed Winter for us to read with. So many amazing curriculum connections, from engineering and design to theme to growth mindset. Lucky us...Thanks so very much!
Enjoy some of our design exploits! We built and and then modified our string telephones during our study of sound and sound waves. The students worked hard and made some amazing changes that improved the phones. Even better, we learned a lot from the changes that didn’t work too!
Enjoy some pics of the kids working together, enjoying our new space. We were establishing our prior knowledge about iimmigration...Why do people immigrate? What are some of the cultural elements of our country impacted by iimmigration?
Engineering and Design
This week we wrapped up our Design a Waterwheel project. With so many standards to keep up with, you may be interested in knowing that in fourth grade in Massachusetts students meet the following science requirements:
4.3-5-ETS1-3. Plan and carry out tests of one or more design features of a given model or prototype in which variables are controlled and failure points are considered to identify which features need to be improved. Apply the results of tests to redesign a model or prototype.*
4.3-5-ETS1-5(MA). Evaluate relevant design features that must be considered in building a model or prototype of a solution to a given design problem.*
The kids had a great time and worked together like pros. Ask them about the process and enjoy some photos from the project:

Thanks so much to our room parents and donating families who helped make a fun afternoon of Halloween science possible. We learned all about super absorbent polymers, as well as changes in states of matter!
Grade 4 Visit from Top Secret Science
Our trip to gillette
We have been exploring patterns of geological elements of the earth and investigating kinds of volcanoes and their formation. Enjoy some photos of us experimenting with different types of "lava".
